Calcium Carbonate powders can cause many problems in conveying systems, including sticking in hoppers, flood-feeding into convey lines, building up inside convey lines, and blinding over filter bags and cartridges in receivers. With a bulk density of 35 to 58 lb/cu ft (443-734 kg/cu m), it is a sluggish adhesive powder that readily packs and cakes.
On the other hand, the characterization based on the method suggested by Carr showed that the flowability and the floodability of the GCC powder treated with SA increased from 45 to 53 and from 30 to 69, respectively. Therefore, the flowability and floodability of the GCC powder treated with SA were superior to the untreated GCC powder.
This study examined the surface properties, fluidity, flowability and floodability of untreated ground calcium carbonate (GCC) powder and treated GCC powder with stearic acid (SA) using a dry process coating system. The surface of GCC powder is generally hydrophilic, but was changed to a hydrophobic surface when coated with SA. The contact angle of water on …

This paper investigates the influences of AMF, mainly at forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO 3), on the fluidity, extrudability, shape stability, green strength, hydration heat, and strength development of 3D printing mortar with FA. It is shown that the mini-slump and extrudability of mixtures are decreased with the increase of AMF contents.

Calcium Carbonate in Plastics Compounding Introduction Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is one of the most popular mineral fillers used in the plastics indus - try. It is widely available around the world, easy to grind or re-duce to a specific particle size, compatible with a wide range of polymer resins and economical. As an additive in plastic com-
A series of spray drying experiments were carried out on calcium carbonate powder, to investigate the effect of three variables (gas flow rate, solids loading, and feed flow rate) on the yield and particle size of spray dried calcium carbonate. Porous, hollow spherical particles ranging between 14 and 201 μm were formed in a lab-scale spray drier.
Results. Tablets floated on the surface of the dissolution medium, showed an adequate floating lag time, and floated for more than 12 hours. Tablets manufactured from granules with 20%(w/w) calcium carbonate were promising with respect to their floating lag time (~ 7min), floating duration (> 24 hours), sustained drug release rate, and swelling ability.
The quality of ground calcium carbonate is usually defined by its three main attributes: particle size, color and chemical purity. And these three attributes define the suitability of use for any given application. So there is no standard solution for building ground calcium carbonate manufacturing process, only customized ones.
